Serving Others
"Love and charity, are service, helping others, serving others. There are many people who spend their lives in this way, in the service of others. … When you forget yourself and think of others, this is love!"
-Pope Francis
Serve & Share

Faith through Service
Volunteering within the Catholic Church allows individuals to live out their faith through service, strengthen their connection to the community, and experience personal growth. It's an opportunity to share God's love, alleviate suffering, and contribute to the well-being of others.

Service to Others
Catholics volunteer to serve those in need because it is a core tenet of our faith to love and serve others, particularly those who are marginalized or vulnerable. This commitment stems from the teachings of Jesus, who emphasized helping the poor and needy. Serving the poor is seen as a way to live out their faith authentically and to practice justice, as well as a way to follow Jesus's example.
Eucharistic Ministers
Ministering Communion to the People of God and visiting the sick and homebound.
Volunteering as a Catholic Eucharistic Minister offers a way to deepen one's faith, serve the community, and participate in a meaningful way in the Eucharist, the source and summit of Catholic life. It allows individuals to share Christ's presence with others within the gathering Liturgical Assembly as well as those who are sick or homebound. This wonderful Ministry strengthens their own connection to God and the Church.
To serve as a Eucharistic Minister, one generally needs to be a confirmed, practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and be approved by the pastor. Training is available and provided by St. Brigid's.
